I thought that these blinds were great. after buying two for one daughter's room, I went back to purchase one for our other daughter's room. Then the returns began! The blinds stop retracting! I'm about to return our second blind for this reason... Two out of three have had this problem and we just purchased them in October. I'm guessing that the third one will jam soon, it was replaced a few months ago because of another unrelated, issue. I have other windows that I had considered these for, but no more!!!! After reading all of the reviews, I'm wondering why BB & B continues to carry this item.

I bought these shades for 4 windows in my bedroom. The 27" shade stopped functioning after 4 months. It would no go all the way up anymore. I exchanged it for a new one and it stopped working after two weeks. Two weeks?!?! So I exchanged again. The 30" shade is starting to do the same. I'm at the point I may return all 4 shades and get something else. What a pain. THe 24" shades haven't had a problem yet so I wonder if it's more of a problem with the wider shades.

These are nice looking roman pleated blinds. They look very high end. I just bought two for my daughters bedroom and i am going back to get more. i got the white which is crisp looking without being too stark. I do have cheaper blinds behind them to block more light because her room gets a lot of sun and she likes it DARK. i think the darker colors would obviously block out more, but these look so great that I am not changing a thing.

We bought a 2400 square feet house last year and had ALOT of windows to cover. I bought one of these blinds in navy for my sons room and loved it so much I ended up buying 10 more total for our house. I absolutely love them ! I have them in all 4 bedrooms, living room and sun room. I LOVE that they do not have a cord and they are SO easy to put up and down. I have never had an issues with any of them and its been over a year of daily up and down use. They look great too! I definately recommend these to anyone looking for nice looking- well make-easy to assemble and use... Blinds/shades !

These were great for the first two weeks, until they stopped retracting. What kind of shade doesn't go up and down easily? This one. Now I have one that is stuck half-way up, it won't go up any more no matter what. So, if you want to keep shades closed all the time and never try to open them, these might be perfect. Otherwise, get something else.

I only give this one star because zero stars is not an option. I am currently on my fifth blind in just over a month. Sure they are pretty enough, but they do not retract; nor do they extend sometimes… just sort of depends on the day of the week.

Thankfully the stores accept the returns, but eventually the money spent on gas to the nearest BB and B will outweigh any money saved from going through a real blind company. At this rate it will be this weekend when I go back for my sixth one.

For $70 shades, these look horrible!!! We bought them for our new baby's nursery. We thought that they would be nice to keep the light out and because they do not have a cord, that could be an issue with the baby. After we installed them, they were only up for about 5 minutes before my husband and I decided that they were not even close to being worth the money that we paid for them. They did not look nice at all. Unless the window is the full length of the shade, they look very awkward when you pull them down. The first time we pulled them down and put them back up, they already didn't go up right. Needless to say, we were very disappointed and took them back the next day.

I happen to LOVE these blinds. I have four of them in three different sizes in my living room and dining room. They look great from inside the house and out. There are no cords for my two small children to get in trouble with. And they give that simple, clean look that I want.

The problem is that not a single one has lasted more than two weeks. The retracting mechanism continues to break in every shade. I have been replacing each one repeatedly for months now. I cannot find anything that I like more for as affordable a price as these. However, I am fed up with having to go back and forth to the store to get a new one. I picked up a new 48 inch shade today and it immediately broke. All I did was pull the shade down very slowly and gently and now it is stuck.

Great idea and look, poor execution in actually making it work. Don't waste your time, save up your money and buy something with a little better quality.

I bough these shades for my master bedroom. I was looking for something to keep the room cooler in the summer. The temperature in the room has been greatly reduced since I installed the shades. They allow me to keep the room comfortable while only running fans and no AC. I bought the White shades, they reduce the light let in but do not block it out, but who would expect white shades to block all light when they are a fabric like material? If you desire to blackout a room use common sense and buy a darker color. I still have my curtains up and with the combination of thin curtains and the shade the room is fairly dark, and dark enough to sleep during daylight if desired. They look great too! Buying more for other rooms.

We got the chocolate color for the baby's room, and it looks great. Definitely room darkening in this color, and I do think the cells in the back help with heat insulation too.

On the 52" model, the cloth itself is about 51 1/2", with about 1/4" sticking out on either end of the mounting bracket and the bottom piece.

I wanted to do an inset mount on a window that was a little smaller (about 51 1/2") so I was able to pop off the end caps and trim off a little bit of the edge of the mounting bracket and bottom piece. (it is rigid plastic - I used a hacksaw)

It worked great, and you cant tell at all.

I would say that with an outside mount, light would probably come in through the sides unless you sized it to overlap the window edges by a couple inches on each side.

This shade is really easy to open or close with one hand (helpful with a baby), and has no dangling cords.

To get a good inset mount, the window depth should probably be at least 1.5 - 2" deep. (Deeper windows are also fine, as you can attach the mounting brackets to the top of the window frame so it will hang where ever you like inside the window box.)

Lovely, but screws are awful

Love the look of these shades (did not buy them for room darkening so it does not bother me that they are not blackout). However, NOTE: Use your own screws! Every screw we used that came with the shades broke at the head of the screw and the remainder was lodged in the window frame. After 3 broken screws and many holes in our window frame, we used our own and then had no problems installing.

I purchased 5 of these for 35"X52" windows in a 70+ year old house. The cold air radiating from the large expanse of glass was a real energy drain. Without question these prevent the cold air from radiating into the house. They are room darkening due to the two layers of insulation and definitely mute the traffic noise from outside. They are quality made, work smoothly, hang beautifully, were a dream to install and all the parts were included! I compared many energy-saving products before purchasing these and the value of product for the money spent has been worth every dime.

This says "light blocking" shades but it's having trouble "light blocking" a full moon. So I highly doubt come morning that any light will be blocked, therefore I don't see how it could thermal. Wish the packaging would of been clear. It would of saved my husband and I some well needed time. Otherwise they look beautiful so if you don't need any light block and I do mean ANY then these are for you. As for me these go back asap.
