I don't have much to add to all the reviews I have been reading trying to find a way ro make this piece of junk work. I have experienced the same problems of burping and gurgling sounds , the dozens of times descaling it, changing filters, rinsing, cleaning, plugging and unplugging and finally, after having it for 4 months just to brew a cup of coffee in the morning and a Zen tea at night I will simply have to throw it away since I made the terrible error of buying a refurbished product just because the name Cuisinart appeared in the logo. i wish I had returned it on the third day after I received when it started acting up but I thought I just needed more experience in the operation of the product. Now I have literally dozens of K cups of all flavors and I guess I will also have to give them away. Really disappointed and frustrated and....almost broke from buying whitei vinegar, filters etc!!,

We've had this machine for a little over 2 years. The first year or so was great, no problems. But since then, it's forever telling us to "de-scale". So we do, and a week or so later, it tells us again, so we do it, and again and again and again. Can't tell you how much white vinegar we've gone through! Even after de-scaling, we get about 4 oz. no matter what we select. It's getting old. You'd think for the price of this, it would work better than that. We're probably just going to go back to old Mr. Coffee Brew and Grind.

First, I want to say that the customer service at BB&B is stellar. My Keurig coffeemaker died on us (the pump, we think) after two years. I went to buy this Cuisinart coffee maker, after reading reviews. The sales person told me to return my broken coffeemaker, even though I told her I didn’t have a receipt nor box (though we did buy it at BB&B). They cheerfully exchanged it for this coffee maker. Wow! As for the coffee maker, it’s built like a Sherman tank. The first few cups had a funky plastic flavor. Once we ran the rinse cycle several times, the water began to taste normal. Now it works perfectly. We are very happy with it and BB&B. I’m a loyal customer.

Very Poor Quality Machine

I have now had three of these machines (each one has been returned). All three have had some of the same issues. After a few cups, it either quits brewing, brews when the NOT READY sign is on, makes noise like it is getting ready to brew but doesn't, drains the entire water reservoir at one time and/or the water does not heat. I'm going to have to try a different brand and see if I can finally have a cup of coffee in the morning.

Look, I like the K-Cup idea. We have two of the Platinum machines at work. But as you can see looking through reviews at this site and others the reliability is awful.
It's been 44 years since we sent a humans to the moon, yet Keurig can't figure out how to build even a reasonably reliable water pump/heater. I purchased this Cuisinart unit. Ran the recommended cleaning cycles and then used it 4 times. I made 4 cups of coffee. Then I had several months of a lot of traveling for work and drained the water tank, leaving it alone for 4 months. And then when I went back to use it.... nothing. Noises like it was pumping but nothing coming through.
A product this expensive should work well for years.
I don't know why Cuisinart would sully it's good reputation by offering a Keurig product. Obviously the internal workings are all Keurig produced and only the cosmetic outer unit is custom to Cuisinart and the other companies selling K-Cup brewers.
Worst kitchen investment made, and lost, ever. I would
have rather taken the money to Vegas where at least I would get some entertainment value before losing so much money.

I am returning this machine today. I am a 1-2 cup a day person, so you think this thing would last...but no. About 2 weeks ago, the pump stopped working. If I unplugged, and plugged back in, it would work, but on Easter Sunday, it would not work at all. Good thing I have a back up pot, as I had a lot of company. They were disappointed, as was I : (

While the coffee maker is great, my husband loves the brew cycle, the reservoir always has an awful odor even with the charcoal filter. I use bottled water only and have to wash it constantly to try and eliminate the odor. When we first purchased, I had to run at least 10 full reservoirs of water to get rid of the plastic taste. That's pretty much gone, but the odor in the reservoir remains. Yuck.

Bought this product and loved the options of being able to choose a 6 ounce cup or up to a 12 ounce cup of coffee however this was the downfall of the machine after 120 days. This was very upsetting, I emailed the company, I wrote a physical letter to the company....NO response - I replaced it with a Kuerig. Don't buy unless you only want it to last 3 or 4 months.

Died within a month... Would not pump water any longer.
Stay away from all K-Cup products until Keurig figures out how to make a pumping mechanism that can last more one to six months. I have been through 5 Kureig machines in the past two years. All die because the maker will not pump water.
Read the bad reviews... This is typical.
For $199 it should last YEARS and YEARS

I have enjoyed this Cuisinart/Keurig machine but for a little less than one year. Just quit. This is my 2nd one.
I will take it back. Bed Bath&Beyond is really very good about no receipt and taking these back. And they can check the numbers on the machine. I love the convenience of K-cups and will put up with the returns until they come up with a better design!

Best Value K Cup Appliance

Ok, 1st, I've never written a review but feel I must for this one. I researched all the reviews from the many competitors and carefully chose this one: #1. There is a 3 year warranty where competitors give one. #2. The unit makes a large 12 cup option and with the Starbucks K-cups (higer oz coffe/kcup) it comes out perfect in french roast. #3. This unit INCLUDES a side compartment which hides a kcup filter so you can pack your own coffee if you don't want to use the kcups. #4.This unit INCLUDES a carbon filter to insure your water is the best. #5. This unit INCLUDES a hot water button dispenser if you just want to make traditional hot chocolate, hot cereal or tea bag tea. #6 This unit comes with a GIANT water dispenser so you don't need to refill so often and it ALSO is wide enough for the Ice Coffee. That all said, I trust the Cuisinart brand and their unbelievable warranty.,,even if you lose the receipt. This machine takes the standard K-cups which are available everywhere by MANY manufacturers. It's so quick, easy, and clean... no cleaning pots or gold filters. You will love this. Use a 20% coupon and you can't go wrong.

I had been wanting a keurig since I used my mom's while visiting her at Christmas. My fiance bought me the Cuisinart Keurig yesterday and I couldn't be happier! The picture on here does not even come close to showing how beautiful this machine is. It's quality, ease of use and customizable features (not to mention great looks) far surpass any of the keurig machines. This one has a 3 year warranty, compared to Keurig's 1 year warranty. This one comes with the reusable k-cup and a great little spot on the side of the machine to store it when not in use. There is not a single bit of fake steel on this thing, again, unlike the regular keurigs. All of the many customizable features are incredibly easy to set and it has it's own water filtration system! I like the k-cups but we are fairly serious coffee people and really prefer the taste of our own blends which this coffee maker brews spectacularly.

I purchased this machine a little over 2 years ago. I'm ahocked at some of the reviews that say it WILL fail. I'm 2 years in without fail. Occasionally it does need to be cleaned (like any coffee pot). I love it and would purchase the same one again if this one fails.

Mine too was messing up, I descaled but no help. On the base where the water tank water connects is a little plugger that pushes up the safety valve.. it has a mess screen around it made of plastic down in the hole, look and see if it has debris, mine had what looked like fuzz in the holes, I used a knife tip and raked it loose, then I took it to the bathroom and ran water into the port and flushed it out. Then I re inspected the screen which was now clean, filled tank and made a cup of hot water. Cup filled to top, time to make hot water was back to normal and noise of pump was back to normal, still loud but normal.
I hope this helps

Cuisinart Keurig Dies Within A Year

I have to agree with the 1-star ratings here. This coffee maker has died almost a year to the date that I purchased it. I have de-scaled, changed filter, unplugged. etc. You either don't a get a full cup of coffee OR you get 16 ounces of continuous pouring which if you walk away, you WILL have a big mess to clean up.
Keep your receipt if you purchase this coffee maker. You will DEFINITELY have to replace it in a very short period of time. For $200, this should last a lot longer than a year.

I returned the Mr. Coffee machine, and bought this one instead, after researching more into machine types. I love all the setting on this one, from cup size to temperature and the ability to set an auto on and off time.
I wanted a coffee maker that I could use the reusable filters with, and this one even comes with it! Plus a little coffee scoop for super easy measuring and pouring of my coffee grounds.
The machine holds water and keeps it warm, so you really do get your drink in under a minute. Plus you can instantly grab just hot water, for tea or other powered drinks.
Overall the machine is a little large in size, but I LOVE how big the water tank is. Really the machine is roughly the same height and depth as a normal drip coffee machine with this machine being a little wider.

The pump WILL fail.

Before I bought this Cuisinart-branded model, I went through several Keurig-branded ones. They all failed in about 6-18 months, and all in the same way (as described in many other reviews here): The pump fails, and it stops being able to draw water into the machine from the reservoir and/or being able to force it out again. There are usually some warning signs before it completely fails: it may intermittently refuse to draw water, it may intermittently stop brewing in mid-cycle or brew partial servings, or it may start getting louder as if it were straining to pump water. When it does finally fail, it will just buzz as if it's trying to draw (or expel) water, but nothing happens. It's as if the machine is "constipated."
To be clear, these "Cuisinart" machines are really Keurig machines. The K-cup system is made by Keurig. Cuisinart puts its brand on this particular machine, but the inner workings are the Keurig design (notice that the Keurig logo is printed on the machine). And it's the Keurig design that is clearly flawed. Just read the reviews for this machine or *any* Keurig K-cup maker--they are all plagued by these pump problems. Sure, you'll find lots of glowing 5-star reviews--those are written by people who are still in the first few months of owning their first machine, who haven't had it fail on them yet. It *WILL* fail. These machines are very expensive and very unreliable. They Simply. Do. Not. Last.
My family is so used to the convenience of the K-cups that they couldn't just give it up. I specifically chose this Cuisinart-branded machine because this one, and only this one, came with a 3-year warranty. Clearly Cuisinart cares about its brand reputation more than Keurig does. I bought it *knowing* that it would fail in about a year, but that this time it would still be under warranty, unlike the Keurig branded ones.
And that is EXACTLY what happened. I bought this machine as a family Christmas gift in 2011. Today is 12/29/2012, and it just completely failed, almost exactly one year to the day since it was first put into service. It was showing warning signs of impending failure for the last week or so. I have to say, it worked pretty flawlessly for that one year. If this was my first K-cup machine, I would have given it a glowing 5-star review anytime during that first year of use. I'm sure that's where so many of these great reviews come from. But then the machine fails, and it fails quite suddenly. One year of functioning is simply not acceptable for a coffee maker that is this expensive.
If you really MUST have a K-cup coffee maker, this is probably the one to get IF you get it with the full knowledge and expectation that sometime within the first 18 months or so it WILL up and die on you. That's only because this one has a three-year warranty and can be replaced WHEN (not "if") it dies. It will still cost you money, time, and inconvenience each time you have to make a warranty claim. It doesn't matter what model you get, or whether it's Keurig branded or this Cuisinart brand--they all quickly die of pump failure. This one at least gives you decent warranty coverage.

Purchase Yearly

If you purchase this Cuisinart single-serve brewer, plan on buying another within the first year. I purchased mine after using the same machine at my cousin's house during a family event in the summer of 2011. Yes, I loved it for the first 11 months. Then I returned to the same family event summer of 2012, and all my cousin could do was complain about how it leaked all over the place when she'd use it. She had towels surrounding the machine on the kitchen counter to protect the cabinets. Not two weeks after that, mine starting acting up right before its first birthday.
I followed the manufacturer's directions to descale, no luck. I changed the filter, no luck. It wouldn't brew, the electronic clock wouldn't set, it was like the thing lost its mind. I called the manufacturer and all they could recommend was to descale. After doing this three times, it worked for a few days just fine, like it was happy again. I made the mistake on the third day of walking away while it was brewing, and returned to find the entire reservoir of water all over the countertop. It started brewing and never quit!
After cleaning up and throwing away some precious items I keep next to the machine, I descaled another three times. I'm glad it won't work so I have an excuse to get a real Keurig machine that works.
Buyer Beware of this Cuisinart Nightmare.
