Not worth the money

I had my first Keurig for just about a year when it stopped brewing randomly. Had to unplug and plug back in. Same complaint you see all over review sites, so I called Keurig and after them having me reclean it for an hour, they sent me a new one. The new one is now 25 months old and the power is dead. No warranty=no customer service. Although they did offer me a discount, I'll try another brand. 2 machines with short lives for me and my boyfriend is on his second as well. Shoddy product. 2 stars because I like the coffee itself.

One of my best friends in the kitchen

I'm surprised at the reviews that say this makes lousy coffee. I'm thinking it's the coffee and not the machine. I've owned this machine for three years. It took a while to find a coffee that I like (I buy Costco's Bold Coffee K-Cups). I could not be happier! My husband and I don't like the same coffee, because he prefers light roast (colored water, I call it). Now, we can each have the exact roast that we like, with no wasted coffee. He has the k-cup filter, so he can fill up his bulk ground coffee. Personally, I like the convenience of slipping in a K-Cup of my favorite coffee. It takes a few tries to learn how much water you want to get the brew you want. This morning, after three years of daily use, it's broken! I'm heart-broken. I love it so much, that if it can't be fixed tonight, I am buying a new one right away. Bottom line, I don't taste plastic and my advice it to play around until you find the brand of coffee that you like. Once you do, you will never want to go back to a coffee pot (which I have in storage and might have to drag out for a few days...boo!)

Tates like Plastic

I bought one in January 2013 and was very excited. The coffee tasted like plastic. There was a plastic aftertaste. I called customer service and they were great. The recommend running it through a couple cycles with vinegar and water. It still tasted like plastic, Customer Service then sent me a new K-Cup holder. This did not correct the problem, Customer service then sent me a completely new machine! It was better, but I still had the plastic aftertaste. I returned the machine. I was very disappointed. I would not recommend it. Apparently this is a problem with some machines.

erfect cup, consistent, no waste

This system brews an excellent cup of coffee…..AND here is how you get it.
For a normal cup of coffee with medium of light roast grounds, use the 5.25 oz setting. Anything higher than that, you are really getting colored water. For a stronger cup, use the 3.25 oz (lowest) setting. If you are like me and desire a mug of coffee, around 10 oz, you will need to brew twice with the 5.25 oz setting and 3 times with the 3.25 oz setting.
Use filtered water.
I always brew one cup of water first thing. This warms up the systems components, flushes any loose coffee grounds that may have escaped the My K-Cup and warms up the coffee mug.
Longevity? Great question! I have not called the manufacture to get the MTBF or MTBM (mean time between failures or malfunctions). If this number is low, that would back up the reviews I have read that state that these units do not hold up lasting 3 months to just over a year.
Although I now have more steps to a mug of coffee, I get the perfect cup, it is consistent and there is no waste. That alone is worth the price of admission.

I'm a Keurig convert!

My boyfriend had been using his Keurig for 4 years before we started dating and now almost 4 years later we are still using it in our home. We live in Seattle and are coffee snobs and this machine continues to make one great cup of coffee after another. We both work from home and always have a cup of coffee on our desks or workbench. We have all the gadgets and blend our own coffee mix for our custom K-cups. No matter what machine you use, your effort is directly reflected in flavor. I love the convenience of being able to change styles (dark to medium, etc.) from one cup to the next. Heck, we have even made a good cup of decaf in the Keurig - how many people can say that?
We've never had a bit of trouble with it, and when it finally does give out, we will replace it with the newest Keurig available!

My sister received one as a gift. Didn't think she'd like it but now raves about it. She bought me one as a house warming present and I love it. No more wasting coffee. I have used my own preferred coffee in the filter and cup you can buy. It tastes great but the convenience of the K-cups makes it all worth while. The variety and choices are amazing. I do notice the medium to dark blends taste better than the lighter selections. Buy them on the Keurig web-site to get a discount. Buying one to give as a gift now.

Wanted to replace my drip maker with something higher end and more creame in the coffee and convenience.
This may be easy to use - but....
I have had K-cups in hotel rooms - which are passable, but not great for taste... I do go to starbucks and dunkin doughnuts frequently so maybe my expectations are higher... and I have had instant (just add hot water coffee), which is not good, but the concoction produced by this is worse!
Customer service, had to give them a chance to fix it if I just simplely had a lemon, could not advise of any solution other than to replace - also confirmed the have very limited Vue Cups for coffees, teas, etc (no Starbucks or Dunkin).
Have returned the item and coffees today! Separately did order albeit a more expensive unit from another company (JURA). I have had coffee produced by Jura at a friends house but was not keen on spending the high cost - but now I have - you will get what you pay for.
Summary, stay with a drip maker if your on a budget, skip this and similar if you value your taste, complexity, and flavors... look at Jura or other $1000+ units if you want simplicity, elegance, quality, and taste.
(Keurig) is a massive failure in all categories!

Makes lousy coffee. Gave this a 2 for performance. Great design and idea. The coffee is terrible for the price you pay for unit and for K-cups. Figured I could save over $400 a year. Even tried it with basket for using my preferred coffee, still lousy flavorless coffee, using cup size selections.

I have owned 2 Keurig Platinum single cup coffee makers. Both have failed. The first one broke after only 1 year of use. I was able to get a replacement only to have that one fail in it's first year of use.
I will not be purchasing another Keurig appliance again.

I have to say I love my Keurig. I received this one as a birthday present almost 5 years ago and to be honest I don't think I've ever de-scaled it. Which, could be why it died this week. I've had 5 great years of coffee every morning from it so I have little to complain about. Finally though it kept having brewing issues. Incomplete cups, or spilling hot water back into the reservoir or just not brewing. Finally the de-scale warning came on so I tried that. Still this morning it did not brew properly so I am replacing it with another one. I'll buy the same one again, but maybe in the jet black or cinnamon. :)

Our brewer stopped working even though we have soft water and use filtered soft water. I read the Troubleshooting directions. I followed the instructions and never had anymore problems. The other thing I would recommend is not to leave the top down into the k-Cup long after brewing. I believe the needle becomes clogged after doing that.

I am now on Keurig coffee maker number 5! Keurig does replace them, however, it seems I have had one issue after another! It was recommended to use bottled water which I do. First the "prime" light would go on, then "add water", then "descale"! This was only after a few weeks of use! We use 3 cups daily, so it is not that the unit isn't used regularly. I will give Keurig ONE MORE chance to get it right! If they don't I'm going to another brand. I do not recommend this unit.

Just got mine for a wedding gift and I LOVE IT!!! I am definitely going to be keeping up with the maintenance that you have to do for the Keurig in attempt to keep it working. I will let you know if mine goes wrong but so far so good. I Love this product for its simplicity. I am the only one that drinks coffee in our home so there is no need to make a whole pot. My main problem with a drip coffee maker is after I drink the coffee I want I dont want to waste the 3/4 pot left and I dont want to clean the pot, lazy, I know but this is awesome!

Yes, I bought not one but two of these horrible machines and yes, I experienced the same problems that everyone else on the planet who ever bought one has experienced! Mine didn't last a year! Used it about 3x a week, used only filtered water and gone in less than a year! Loved it at first...even bought one for my daugher who was heading off to college. You guessed it, when down in her second semester!!
What needs to happen is a class action lawsuit be brought against Keurig!! A discount on a new machine? What do I have stupid written across my forehead?? Their Customer Service is just as bad as their product!! I have never placed a review on any product that I had purchased in the past however this one just has me going through the roof!!
BBB is a great company; it's just a shame that they have to stock their shelves with such a terrible product!!! My next step is the Better Business Bureau!!!
How did this product ever receive 3 stars!!!!! It doesn't deserve one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must have been thier own their own employees writting them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BBB Provides Great Customer Service

My Keurig B70 went crazy (dispensing anywhere from zero to 18 ozs) after about 2 years. Called Keurig customer service and was directed to their trouble shooting videos on You Tube. Called Keurig back after none of the solutions resolved the problem. Keurig said my machine was not repairable and since it was out of warrantee, they offered me a replacement at the discounted price of $117 vs. $179. While researching prices and reviews on the web I came across a review that said BB&B exchanged their Keurig. Since that's where I had purchased mine, I decided to find out if it was true. Well BB&B exchanged my old Keurig for a new one at NO cost. Now this is a company I will always give my business to. While I'm very disappointed that Keurig does not stand behind their products, or make products that last longer, I am hooked on the convenience of this machine. You can brew a cup of coffee in no time and the clean up is a breeze. I hoping my new B 70 will far exceed my expectations...this time.

Tastes like plastic

I have tried other Keurig coffee and it was great. So I got mine as a gift and the coffee tasted like melted plastic. After some research online, this seems to be a common problem with Keruig machines-- especially recently. Read reviews before considering purchasing asingle serve coffee machine. Unfortunately after cleaning it mulitple ways I have reduced the plastic taste, but have not gotten rid of it. So I will be returning this machine. Makes you wonder how safe the machines are if they taste this bad from the plastic components!

...because it will come, most likely after the warranty expires. I've been luckier than most- machine worked fine for about 17 months; I used only filtered water and descaled 3x in 17 months without prompt from the machine. It just stopped working- motor/pump does not run. Spoke w/Keurig customer service, and while very solicitous, full of appologies, etc, if your warranty is expired you will be offered a new machine at a "discount" if it is "beyond repair" as mine was deemed to be- so essentially they fully expect their product to just peter out after a year or so and throw a discount at you to entice you to buy the same product that they expect will peter out again! I loved the convenience and the coffee was good (not great) but they aren't the only game in town and they just lost a customer (not that they give a hoot).

I actually had been wanting a Keurig for months when I was surprised with one for Mother's Day. I use it everyday, sometimes multiple times, all without a problem. I set the timer on it so it's not ALWAYS on, I use bottled water and haven't had a problem with it once. Everything I make with it comes out great and i use it for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and even just hot water. We are always having guests over who now make requests on the what K-Cups they would like. I went on a trip and took it with me because I refused to be without it for 5 days. Everyone staying with me was grateful!

We bought our first Platinum almost 4 years ago. We absolutely LOVED it! Hubby and I work different schedules, so it just made sense for us.
Just after a year later it wouldn't brew a full cup. We tried cleaning it (as we periodically did), resetting it, even leaving it unplugged - nothing. We called Keurig but since we were 2 months out of the year warranty period, they could only help us troubleshoot and then provide a 20% off coupon (if we ordered through them right then) on a new one. Given how much we loved the product, we took them up on their offer.
Now 16 months later, we are in the same boat again. This time we noticed that it half brews into the cup, half spills hot water back into the reservoir via the overflow. I'm not one for conspiracies, but it almost seems based on our experience and what else I've read from other reviewers that it seems like Keurig programs the thing to die on you just after a year - that or its just cheaply made, or both :).
We love the Keurig, but its getting expensive to drop $150 every 14-16 months. This time we're trying the Cuisinart which at least has a 3-year warranty.
