Wonderful bath rug

This rug is fabulous! As I do with all fabric things I purchase I washed it first and put a fabric softener in the rinse. There was very little lint, I don't know what the other reviewers mean by excessive lint. I had the normal amount of lint that I get from any of my towels and rugs. I will buy more of these. I purchased the larger 30" x 48" size in Seamist color, lovely!

We are living in an apartment- transitioning to a permanent home. However, the apt management insists on no rubber backed rugs as, over time, the rubber backing leaves a yellow outline of the rug's shape on the linoleum. This is true. It has happened to me before in another home.
The contour rug has been washed once since purchased in October. The color changed a little and much of the yarn ended up attached to the washer drum and in the lint catcher in the dryer.
Washing in cold water on the gentle cycle should not have caused the yarns to come apart. I am very glad I did not try to bleach it since it is advertised as "bleach safe".
I will purchase better quality when we get in our new home. For now, these will have to do. I think they will be part of the dog house or a cat rug at that time when the move is done.
Shame on BB&B for selling these for such a high price for the poor quality.

Long lasting bathmat

LOVE this rug. Have had it for 3 (?? about) years now. I bought it to go with the "spa-like" vibe I wanted in my bathroom. Bought in white.
Brightness has held up very well with washing (after each week it is washed with bleach) and rotation every week with another bath rug I have. I'd say it is down two weeks of every month.
One side has a "shaggy" look and the other is closer cropped and more "neat" looking. No stupid "no skid."
Yes it has big blue tag. OOOO LOOK IT'S NAUTICA! It IS dumb but I just cut it off and I can only see it when I'm looking for it.
Getting a new one added to my registry as well as one in linen.

I love these rugs - as has been pointed out by others - I hate the non-skid backing that falls apart in washing and drying. I have the large rugs in all of our baths and no one has ever slipped. I have had these rugs for 10 years - replacing every 3-4 years at most. I buy white because as a mild germaphobe I can bleach them with each wash. Maybe a few frayed yarns after much washing, but nothing really bad. I love that I can flip it over if it gets a dog print without having to wash again.

Save your money, please!
Have purchased both the white & the blue versions of the Nautica brand mats. Thinking it had a 'name' & they were more expensive led me to believe I was buying quality--definitely NOT.
They frayed at the ends after only 2 washes & this in a washing machine that has no agitator for them to get caught on!

frustrating labels

The dark blue labels are woven into the rugs, and designed to stick out from the edge of the rugs by about 5 inches. This meant that my white rugs always had a dark blue label jutting out. I tried to cut it off, but 3/4 of an inch or so of dark blue still showed through on one side of the rug. I ended up taking it out thread by thread, which took a ridiculous amount of time.

Dry and Cozy Toes and Feet

Loved these mats. Very durable and retained cozy, soft feel after two years of once a week washing. Had the white color, bleached each wash and maintained good color. Will be purchasing a new set today because time has finally taken a toll and edges beginning to fray. Great mats at a fantastic price.

FIRST washing; half the rug stays in the lint trap! Many of the loops come un-done! Fraying at the edges! As other reviewers commented, the rug slips & slides on tile floor, creating a possible danger. (Over-looking THAT is 'my' error..) I expected more quality from this brand. No, I will not buy again!

Lint at first, but good cotton rugs

I got these rugs because they do not have the vinyl backing and that's what I like. The first time I washed them they did lint up both my washer and dryer, but I didn't have to clean out my lint trap anymore than if I had done a load of new towels. They are thick, so I did tumble dry them for over an hour. Once down on the floor they are fluffy and absorbent. Very happy with my purchase!

I loved the look of these rugs when we got them for a wedding present. After the first wash they started to fray around the edges- which I could put up with. But then today I accidentally spilled some toilet bowl cleaner on one- which contained bleach- and it turned a spot on my brown rug orange. Maybe they are just bleach safe with straight from the bottle but I wouldn't risk it.

Well, its a rare thing that I would be compelled to write about a product. And to some degree it is true what the other reviewers are saying about these rugs. I have had my set of rugs now for five years. I wash them weekly. Yes there is lint in my dryer. But it has lint with jeans, towels, you name it. If something is new, then there is lint. I don't mind. Because it has not effected the feel of the product. The rugs are still wonderful. As far as the rugs fraying. It happens. It would happen to any rug put in a washer or dryer. Which I have experienced. Once again. Big deal. I cut the threads off. Not many mind you. But not a big deal. As far as rubber backing? I hate that stuff. It falls apart from the drier. I like that fact that I can use either side of the rug. I have not had to chase my rug around the bathroom. So after five years I have decided to treat myself to a new set. Yes they have lint. Yes they unravel some. Yes they have no rubber back. But after five years they look just like new after a wash. I can not complain. I can not say that for most bath rugs.

The color was wonderful. I wanted a dark brown and this was perfect. The rugs themselves appeared to be thick and absorbant. However, they started fraying after one wash and totally falling apart after the second. You will be picking rug material from your washer and dryer.

A Matter of Opinion

I see that some people here seriously don't like the Nautica Bath series but I LOVE them! It's a matter of opinion. I prefer Bath mats and Toilet Contours that don't have a backing so for me they're perfect. The cotton is of great quality and they come out of the dryer nice and fluffy every time. I prefer 100% cotton which Nautica Bath mats are and there's no yuky latex backing to ruin my Washer and dryer.
So, I'm ALL about this product and I'm about to buy more after having the same ones for nearly 3 years.
Different strokes for different folks....that's what makes the world go around.

i bought these rugs in the chocolate color - they are gorgeous and matched my new shower curtain perfectly!! i obviously let that go to my head because i didn't even consider that they did not have any rubber backing! they would NOT stay in place and people kept slipping and sliding on them. i could not take the chance that my 1 year old would hurt himself so i took them back the very next day!! thank goodness because after reading the reviews on how badly they washed!!

Purchased the 30x50 rug. My washer couldn't spin it dry. After repeated attempts it was still dripping wet. Took it to a commercial laundry. Only marginally dryer. Dried it at home but it took 5 cycles on HOT at 40 min each. Not recommended.

I recently purchased these rugs for my bathroom after a remodel. To my suprise, they were constantly falling apart when washed and dried. They also crush down and loose the plush look I was going for. Save yourself time and money and invest in something else.

I was looking for bath rugs that didn't have the rubber backing and these were the best that I could find at this store. They were very plushy in the store, but after a wash or two, they are a little stiff even with fabric softener. I haven't had a problem with washing or drying; sometimes I have to add a little bit more time for drying since the rugs are a little thick. Otherwise, no complaints. I haven't had an issue with the loops of the rug getting caught, or the lint trap getting full... I've washed at most, 2 toilet rugs, 1 large bath rug and 1 small rug together. For the price, I will be buying another set for the master bath.

Don't waste your time...

In the store, these are fantastic. So soft and a great size and you can throw them in the washer. The dryer is where the biggest problem is. In only 30 minutes, I had to clean out the lint drawer 5 times, each time it was completely full. About an half inch thick each time. These are NOT dryer friendly at all. I made the mistake of buying 3, spent the money and in less than 3 washes each, the loop side has strings hanging everywhere and it now sheds all over my floor. I even washed on cold, gentle and then dried on low. I don't know if I can return them at this point but don't waste your time.
