Customer Reviews for Oneida Oneida Digital Probe Thermometer

Oneida Oneida Digital Probe Thermometer

With its commercial quality stainless steel probe, this digital thermometer allows you to read the temperature of the meat you are cooking even with the oven door closed. Another great feature is the alarm that sounds when the preset temperature is reached. Timer conveniently counts down from 23 hours 59 minutes. Thermometer has a magnetic back and an adjustable stand, so finding a place to put it is easy. Uses one AAA battery (included). Lifetime warranty.

the probe wire could be more substantial but for now they are replacing it when it breaks.
we bought it after a friend suggested it. She loved it. We are now recommending it to our other friends.

I LOVE this thermometer. I had one for several years which would still be working if I hadn't carelessly burned the probe wire on my gas burner. I was slightly disappointed to find that the probe wire is now covered in plastic, the old one was wire. It is still an incredible deal for the price and I highly recommend it.

I purchased this oven thermometer several years ago. It is wonderful and would still be working perfectly if I hadn't accidentally let the probe wire get into the gas burner flame!! I highly recommend this, it beats out even the higher priced thermometers...just keep it away from your stove burners!

This thermometer is the second most useful utensil in my kitchen, after my knife. I can put any cut of meat in the oven with the probe inserted, then set the temperature alarm and continue prepping the rest of my meal, confident that my protein will be cooked perfectly. I have had it for over two years now, and I have never had a problem with it. The whole reason I am writing this review is because I was on the website to give the link to a friend so she can purchase this, and I didn't think the rating was high enough! Again, highly recommended.

I've owned a few digital probe thermometers and you can't beat their functionality when roasting. Their downfall seems to always be failure of the probe. Robinson Home Products' outstanding customer service (they happily send a few replacement probes when you have a problem, no questions asked!) and the very reasonable price have left me exceptionally pleased with this product.

I started off with a more expensive thermometer probe for heating asphalt samples, in order to test them for quality control testing of asphalt mixtures. I have to split the sample at a temperature where the mixture is pliable. Sometimes over 300 degrees, rough uses. I ended up replacing my thermometer with this brand. Had them in my lab for nearly five years before they needed to be replaced one by one, because they needed recalibration. They outlasted the expensive brands, but alas after many years of high temperatures, sitting on the top of the oven, plastic melts. They then become unreliable. I can imagine they work even better for traditional usage of this type of thermometer. Is an excellent deal for the product.

I went through two of these before I decided to spend the extra money for a better quality digital thermometer. Don't waste your money on this one. It breaks after about 6 or 7 uses.

I love this thermometer. The probe is long enough to go into the biggest roast or ham. The cord is long enough to reach all shelves in my oven. I have tried 2 other brands and returned both of them. This is a keeper. It is also wonderful to slide into meat in my George Forman cooker.

We've had this thermometer for quite some time and so when it seemed to be malfunctioning, we thought we'd need to purchase a new one. However, after reading the reviews here, we thought we'd call Robinson Home Products (ph# posted by reviewer "jls1") for a new probe. As stated, the customer service was outstanding! We'll have a new probe in just a few days and with any luck our thermometer will last another several years! If not, we will be purchasing another one from BB&B.

Our son competes in BBQ competitions and recently broke his digital thermometer. When his wife asked if I could get him a new one for Christmas, I worried that I could spend a reasonable amount of money to get a quality product. He loved this thermometer.

Bought this to use on Thanksgiving the week before. Worked when I received it but was no longer working on turkey day. The temp display was only showing half numbers so it was basically unreadable.

So I haven't received this yet, but i'm sold by the lifetime warranty. Based on what I read on amazon: "My thermometer conked out too. I just spoke with a Robinson Home Products customer service rep. She could not have been nicer. She is sending a couple of probes to me today at no charge. Call 800-245-2433, press 3 for customer service. "

I also bought mine several years ago from Bed, Bath and Beyond and it has the name Pyrex on it. I just had it malfunction last night and see there is a life time warranty on it. However since neither Pyrex nor Oneida have it on their website how you do go about replacing it? I love this thermometer and would love to have another one.

Works Great for Me, Anyway...

Apparently, a lot of other reviewers have had a lot of problems with this thermometer, but for me it's worked great so far (2 months or so). This is my first digital meat thermometer, so I was pleasantly surprised to find out you can leave thermometer in the meat, close the door over the cord, and the temp will update for you as it cooks! You can even set an alarm to go off when it reaches your desired temp. Maybe they updated the design or something since the other reviewers bought it. I have nothing but good things to say about this product.

I bought this product from Bed & Bath Beyond a least 5 years ago. The only difference is is mine says Pyrex professional and this one says Oneida, but it looks the same. Today I came on the site to purchase another one because my husband stole mine from my kitchen to use for his outside smoker. I have never had any problems. I think it works great. I've tested it on boiling water to see if it the temp reads correctly and it does.

Stopped working on the first use. Worked for about 5 minutes. Now it just reads HI which probably means the probe is defective. Guess I'll look for a high quality instant read digital probe....

Purchased this 2-3 months ago. Now it reads highly inaccurate. Thought it was the wire probe, so I searched the Oneida website to purchase a new probe...can't find the thermometer listed on the website anywhere. From what the reviews say on here - this one is going in the trash.

After 2 times, going for something new!

I bought this meat thermometer about 2-3 years ago, and within a year, the temperature readings started going into extreme high temps when the probe was inserted cold meat. I thought something was wrong with the probe wire, maybe it had gotten kinked and wasn't working properly, so I threw it away, and bought a new one. Now, today, after having the second one for about a year, the same thing!! Trying to roast a pork tenderloin, set the cook temp to 160, and after inserting the probe into the cold tenderloin, it read 118 and then just spiked to high and beeping incessantly. I just threw it out! I'm going to try something new, this thing is a piece of junk, and judging by the other reviews, I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Tired of junk, also

I agree with the majority: tired of junk. I bought this thermometer about a year ago, and had problems with the temp read out within weeks. Now it won't read anything. Tried to find troubleshooting answers on line, to no avail. Thought about just getting a new one, until I read these other reviews, decided not to waste my money. Can't take it back...who's saves $20 receipts for that long? The only thing it is good for now is to use as just a simple "timer". Anyone know what the "LO" means on the thermo/temp box? Can't seem to get answers from manufacturer.
