I'd give this a 5 but for the fact that a CONSIDERABLE amount of potatoes oozed back out of the main cylinder when I pressed potatoes through it. They were peeled and should have simply pushed through the mesh end. But they didn't. About 1/3 of the potatoes oozed backwards making the tool a mess and making clumps of potatoes fall into my pan. I had to scoop those up and re-press them. I may have had a dud. Mine was manufactured so poorly. The press wasn't fitted large/closely to the cylinder, leaving the troublesome gap. I returned mine.
That said, if you don't mind the frustrating mess of 1/3 of your potatoes oozing back up the side and reprocessing them, the results are marvelous. Fluffy, light perfect mashed potatoes. I may try another one or simply try another brand that may have better engineered parts. I used my sister's plastic one recently and that worked much better!

I use this ricer to my my gnocchi as well. I have also made spatzel with it! It cleans up great, i just throw it in the dishwasher. I reccommend it to all my friends that have recently gotten in on my gnocchi making craze!

This is a great little ricer. Easy to use, clean and store. I use mine to make gnocchi and it produces the most fluffy, perfect mashed potatoes. Much easier (and less expensive) than a food mill. A great deal for the price!

My family (including me) love potatoes. This is the best product for them. A ricer will leave out any lumps, make them fluffy and easier to work with. I also use this ricer for the best potato soup.
