Customer Reviews for Dansk Christianshavn Blue 4-Piece Place Setting

Dansk Christianshavn Blue 4-Piece Place Setting

Designed over 20 years ago by ceramics master-artist, Niels Refsgaard, this classic pattern is as versatile today as it was then. Niels got his inspiration for this casual porcelain dinnerware from the charming provincial tiles found in the country inns and kitchens of Denmark. Dishwasher, microwave and oven safe up to 350 degrees. 4-piece place setting includes one each: 10 1/4" dinner plate, 8 5/8" salad plate, 12-ounce soup bowl, and 9-ounce mug.

12+ years and still going strong

My husband and I registered for this china before our wedding over 12 years ago. Since then, we've added 4 children to our family, and these dishes have been used (and abused!) on a daily basis. I love that these plates are simple enough for every use, but they go very well if you have to dress up the table for a fancy dinner. Also, I love the rim of the dinner plate--it holds liquids very well for when you're making french toast and you have to dip bread in egg mixture, or if you're frying foods and you need to dredge flour on chicken or meat. I'm currently on the hunt for a new set of dishes because many of the pieces have fallen victim to clumsy kids and tile floors. (not a good combination, no matter what dishes you have!) However, the dishes that I have left still look great, and I may end of buying a replacement set of these since none of the dishes I have seen seem to measure up to these! My only criticism is that I'm more a fan of the deeper/cup like bowl vs. the wider/flatter soup bowl that is offered with this set. Dansk does offer a "fruit bowl" that is more my style, and we have those as well. Also, none of the bowls nest or stack very well, so keep that in mind if you have limited storage or you plan on having your kids unload the dishes, as the stack tends to wobble quite a bit. There are a few scratch marks on the plates, but after 12 years I'd expect that out of any plate.
If you choose these, you won't be disappointed!
