The pots and pans hold heat very well. But if you don't mind spending extra time cleaning and having your pots and pans look like 2 years old after 2 weeks of use then look elsewhere. And yes i do use Barkeepers Friend. You also get scratches from plastic utensils as well as spots from adding salt to boiling water. But if you don't care what your pots and pans look like then these may be for you....

easy to care for - use Bar Keepers and you will keep your cookware looking like new forever. I cleaned a pan using Bar Keepers that was so bad my husband wanted to throw it out - he had burned oil and tried to clean it with a scouring pad, regular cleansers, stains remained until I tried the Bar Keepers and without much elbow grease it is like new again!
If you buy this set - which you will love - make sure you buy some Bar Keepers too!!!

Best Cookware I've Ever Had!!!!

I have had this cookware for 5 years now. Took some getting used to as, they hold there heat better than most. I also had to learn to cook at lower temps. As in other reviews, they are harder to clean and are heavier. If I had to do it again, I would.

The Pots & Pans Your Grandchildren Will Fight Over

First, let me say that I enjoy cleaning these as much as I enjoy cooking in them. I've had them several years now, and I have tried to kill them several times: letting the water boil out while steaming, burning milk and sugar, forgetting I had oil heating in the skillet . . . and they continue to survive without warping or leaving residue. I like the way the handles feel, giving me a firm grip when I cook. The glass lids help keep a watchful eye on the meal without letting the heat out by removing the lid. The curves of the pots help keep food from getting lost in the corner of the bottom. The curves make the pots comfortable to hold while cleaning. These pots and pans are sure to be passed down to new generations. BUY THEM!

I have had this set for over 5 years. I have really loved them. When I bought them, I intended for them to last the rest of my life. Then......I bought an induction stove. Apparently, calphalon pans prior to 2010 are not induction-compatable. I am very disappointed, but haven't found any pans that appear to have the same quality. I guess I will buy another set of calphalon pans--and will bring a magnet to make sure they will work on my induction stove!

I love my cookware! It's heavy without being too hard to carry, great sturdy handles that stay cool (except on the stockpot), cooks evenly and quickly, BUT...these pans are a BEAST to clean. I don't think it's Calphalon's fault, just the nature of stainless steel pans. They say dishwasher safe (which is true) but the only way a dishwasher would clean them is if you used no oil or butter in the pan or if you used the pans on very low heat. I do love them, but if you're OCD about things being spotless you need to go the non-stick route.

This is the second cookware set I've owned. The first being a set of T-Fal nonstick I received as a wedding present 15 years ago. I wanted to get away from the non stick surface because of health and safety concerns of the coating leaching into the food. If you are used to nonstick cookware then this stainless steel set will be an adjustment. While not impossible to clean it is much more labor intensive than non stick. I feel like my mother with the soaking and scrubbing but they do clean nice with elbow grease and a healthy dose of BarKeepers Friend. This cookware is also very heavy so if you find you are not as strong as you once were or suffer from arthritis or the like you should go to the store and pick up the pots and pans to see if you are able to lift them. Otherwise, these are great. The food cooks wonderfully and does not stick as long as you pre-heat the pot or pan and use room temperature food whenever possible.

Last year I bought this set to replace an aging set of cookware, and I don't regret the decision. The set is pricey (but you get what you pay for). The set is heavier than my old one, but it is solid and durable. Cooks evenly and uses lower temperature settings. Looks impressive. Cleans up great. I also use Bar Keepers Friend to keep the pots and pans looking new. I would suggest using nylon utensils because metal ones will leave scratch marks. This set will last a lifetime.

Solid Cookware

This cookware is solid and durable and cooks so evenly! I don't have a problem with scratching like the other reviewer. However, I'd agree that sometimes they don't wash great, but you just use a little Bar Keeper's Friend on the pans, and they shine up like new. The handles stay cool if you cook the food at the right temperature, there is never a reason to go over Medium heat (even for boiling). All in all, this is a solid, durable, heavyweight cookware set that I will have around for many years!

Worst Purchase

This cookware is awful. It scratches (even when only using the Calphalon Nylon Utensils with Grip Anywhere Handles that isn't supposed to scratch the cookware). The handles get hot to touch when cooking. And the lids get even hotter. Not to mention they look awful when you wash and dry them. Not happy with the investment made in this set. Wish I had known and gotten another brand.
