We looked extensively at dishes two years ago while completing our wedding registry at several different stores. We ultimately chose the swirl white dishes and have been extremely happy with them. We have had no chips in any of the dishes, which, trust me, is no small feat in a kitchen full of tile surfaces. They are really attractive and the perfect combination of visual appeal and durability. I would recommend them to anyone.

Gorgeous - but HUGE dinner plates

I was looking for an attractive, durable, every-day dinner set. I fell totally in love with Mikasa Swirl in white. It is a beautiful set - very pretty, lovely off-white color, feels sturdy, nice shapes in the mug and bowl. LOVE IT. I brought one place setting home to try it out, along with a handful of other brands / styles. The dinner plates looked big, so my husband tested it in our kitchen cabinet to make sure it fits - and somewhow we thought it did fit. I ordered 8 place settings and 2 extra dinner plates and side plates. So, the set arrives and I'm so excited to get rid of the old stuff and install this one. I unpack the first box, stack it up in the cabinet and....... the doors won't close fully :( The dinner plate is about half an inch too big on the diameter. I am devastated - they have to go back. From what I've seen I don't think I will find anything that lives up to this set.... so so so so sad.

Great Dishes!

We registered for these dishes for our wedding almost 3 years ago and have loved them! We routinely get compliments on the dishes and the bowls are really unique. I've found them to be extremely durable - the only ones we've broken are the ones we've dropped. They can be slippery when wet.

We've also combined them with other more colorful pieces and they make a beautiful table!

Love These Dishes

We got these dishes for our wedding and have used them everyday for the past 2.5 yrs.
I disagree with the other reviewer that said they chip easily. They are very durable. We have only broken one plate that the dog licked off of the end table and onto the tile floor. I even dropped the sugar bowl lid out of the very top of an upper cabinet this weekend and thought for sure it was at least chipped and it was perfectly fine.
I was a little worried that the matte/glossy finish would stain or wear differently but I have left tomato sauce on them for extended periods (very extended :) with no staining what so ever. They are not oven safe so maybe that is why the other reviewer had problems. We put ours in the microwave and dishwasher with no issues.

The dinner plates and saucers chip very easily. The finishes on two of the bowls have cracked as well. I don't recommend this.

I received 12 place settings of this pattern at my bridal shower from my bridesmaids. We just started using it and love it so far! It is casual but can definitely be dressed up!
I love the white!!
