I LOVE this garlic press. I've had a few different ones over the years, and this one is the best! Other ones I've had were difficult to clean, or had a separate attachment that was meant to 'poke' the fibrous bits of left-over garlic out of the holes. So you would need to dig the 'cleaner' piece out of a drawer every time you washed the press.
This one has the cleaning mechanism attached right onto the arm of the press. So you smash your garlic through and then just flip the arm around to poke any residue out of the holes. It cleans so easy and does a great job!!
I've never had any problem getting the cloves of garlic to go through the press. Any bits that are left in the press I can just push around a little with a knife and then press again and more comes out. Highly recommend this item, it works great!!

A Great Garlic Press

This press does an excellent job. It has an attached accessory which cleans the holes after pressing, but what makes it even nicer, is that the cavity side towards the hinge, remains open, so a sharp knife can be used to remove the fibers from the bottom after each pressing. This way the next pressing is more efficient since the fibers don't clog the holes. Customers who had difficulty with this excellent product probably didn't peel the garlic cloves before pressing.

I can't imagine a bad review on this garlic press. It is awesome. Very easy to use-- garlic pours through the holes and then turning it the other direction cleans it! Another fantastic gadget by OXO. Thank you!

This tool is worthless. All the garlic just gets stuck in the "press" no matter how many cloves I put in it. It's awkward to hold and very difficult to clean.

I've never used a garlic press before, so I was impressed with the OXO garlic press - I hated having to mince garlic myself and think this press is a godsend when I'm cooking. I use one peeled clove at a time and end up with a nice paste after getting the whole clove through, though I do have a fair amount of residue left on the press that I have to wipe off. I assumed this was normal for a garlic press, so I'm not unhappy with it.

Not the best Oxo product

Oxo usually makes good tools. This is an exception. The garlic press looks and feels sturdy. However, I tried it with ONE PEELED garlic clove and only about 30% of if went through the press. The rest stayed in the device, nicely squashed. Of course you can take it out and finish the job with a knife, but then...What's the point of using it in the first place? I tested with more garlic cloves, different amounts of pressure, etc without better results. I was very disappointed with it and returned it. OXO needs to return to the drawing board with this item. BB&B provided great customer service as usual and I got a different product from the store. Now I'm happy!
