I'm having upper back and shoulder muscle issues, so I recently started physical therapy to assist with this issue. The physical therapist recommended this item and I love it! My co-worker has one and another co-worker is purchasing one. I slept like a baby after using it. I may try to make a cover for it like the previous person suggested b/c I will be using this often and am sure to have it for years to come!

Bed Buddy Hot/Cold Pack

This is to call attention to those who have bought this NEW model with stiches down the middle. That's not really a problem. I had an older model too. When I got this new one, I merely use a "stitch cutting tool" that comes with a sewing machine, or an Exacto Knife, to remove the stitching. Bingo, it is now just like the older one.
Also, Get some STRETCHABLE fabric and make a cover for the warmer so you can remove it for washing when dirty. Make sure to make the "sleeve" longer and wider than the warmer itself so it will give it room for the material inside to move around! Try it! It works and I am a MAN!
Another thing. the warmer can only last so long. After using it for some time, the GRAINS inside begin to dry up and will smell like some dry-fried rice and will not hold the heat as long either! Then, you'll need to get a new one!

Bed Buddy Hot/Cold Pack

I had the original Bed Buddy for many years. It did not have a seam down the middle and was wider and heavier than the new style. The new one is not as good. It doesn't hold the heat at all and the center seam makes it harder to move around on my feet. I see this one was made in China. Don't think the original one was.
It's sad that the quality of once good products is not more valued than cutting manufacturing costs.

I get bad sinus headaches and migraines and this helps tremendously. i put the Bed Buddy over my eyes to help the pressure and the heat helps. I've had mine for years and it still works. Just stick in the microsave for just over two minutes and oh so helpful with headaches right behind your eyes!

Good item

I find it holds heat well. for a non electric item.
I haven't tried it for cold pack, as I have other cold packs I prefer.
Works good wrapped over my shoulders and clipped in the front by the handles. The warm eases shoulder tension and the weight of encourages my shoulders to drop down rather than tensed upward.
I have even used it as a neck roll
My chiropractor dr. always says to use moist heat and this provides that.

I have two of these. Use them several times a week. Bought an extra to have at folks' house. Great as heat pack to relax shoulders, earache, cramps. LOVE it's size, weight, and feel. More comfy, conforming, and safer than electric heating pad. Wish it held it's cool a bit longer. I use it for headaches and shoulder pain relief.

It seems like a really good product but I wish it would stay hot longer. It is inconvenient to have to go and re-warm it after only a few minutes of use. I like the shape and flexibility of the product.

I've bought this exact item before - at BBB - but for some reason, this one doesn't seem to heat up as well as the previous ones; I have to leave it in the microwave for a up to a minute longer [than recommended] to get it to a useful warmth. maybe just got a lemon? will get another the next time I am near a store.

I picked this up for my husband to use on his neck. I thought it would get cold enough for him to be able to use, but since it's filled with beans or something we just can not get it cold enough.

Beware - Manufacturer Changed Product

PostedJanuary 10, 2012
ZenMom

The old version of this product [pictured] is a 5-star product, one of the greatest things EVER!! Unfortunately the manufacturer has changed this product: now there is a seam stitched lengthwise down the middle, creating 2 long "pockets," Now it's stiffer, doesn't mold to your neck/body part nearly as well, and I don't know if they changed the material inside, or if it's just the design change, but it doesn't hold heat as well as the old design.
The changes make this product less comfortable and less effective. Maybe it's just because I've loved the old one for so long, but in my opinion, this new version does not even compare.
I'm really sorry I can't recommend this at all. If you find one that looks like the picture, GRAB IT!! It's one of the best things I've ever owned. The new one: it's a pass for me.

The Bed Beddy shown above is slightly different than the one I have but overall same great product. My Bed Buddy has a line down the middle of it. I used it for the first time today and i recommend this product to everyone. I wraped it around my neck and already feel my neck muscles relaxed. This is a great inexpensive way to relax muscles and warm up at the same time 8o)

I used to be a frequent sufferer of migraines, and anyone who has them knows that nothing helps. But let me tell you, putting this on the back of my neck, or on my forehead when I had a migraine worked wonders! And this little thing doesn't only work for headaches it works on stomach aches, muscle aches...you name it!!! I probably use mine 3-5x a week at least! It has a little bit of a smell reminiscent of oatmeal, which for me is not a downfall at all, it's actually quite soothing, although I have had mixed emotions from others about it. All in all I recommend this amazing product 100%!!

Better than those herbal heat bags

I actually purchased The Original Bed Buddy in my local B3 store after seeing this product online and reading the 5 star reviews from long time users. The one I purchased is a little different than the one pictured online. The one I got is actually sewn down the middle length wise rather than a solid single bag. I think this is actually a better feature because it stays firm and keeps the beads in place better so it retains the pressure on the sore muscle rather than flatten out like those other solid styles. I have used it for 2 nights now and it has been so great relieving the stiffness in my lower back. This morning I popped it in the microwave and let it rest around my shoulders while making breakfast! I love that it's long enough to pull on the handles when I want to put some added pressure or lay on it and have it run the length of my spine and not just half of my back like the smaller bags. I have been warming it for about 1 min 30 seconds but it doesn't hold it's heat as long as I'm used to so I will try and heat it to it's max of 2 minutes and see if it will last longer. And it doesn't smell like the herbal style bags, unless you like that sort of thing. I don't mind it so much but my husbands doesn't like the smell of them. So far so good!

I purchased my Bed Buddy five years ago. I have arthritis and have frequent pain in my knee and hands. I warm mine in the microwave and wrap it around the painful area. The moist heat definitely relieves my pain.
