If only it would stop breaking....

I LOVE my KitchenAid mixer. Or should I say, loved. All 3 of them. The first one was replaced because it was flaking paint chips into the bowl immediately after it came out of the box. My second one lasted about 6 months before the motor completely died. I'm hoping the third time's the charm, but if it doesn't last the year, I'll probably upgrade to the pricier model with metal parts and the overheat sensor, which the Artisan doesn't have. That said, KitchenAid customer service has been great, and keeps sending me new ones. I just wish they would last.

I am a newly retired teacher who's NEVER loved to cook. Now that I'm retired, and watching WAY too much Food Network, I've begun cooking and thus, purchased this mixer for myself! WOW! I now enjoy cooking new things - mostly due to this mixer! I have just now treated my daughter to one for her Christmas gift this year! She loves cooking more than I do so I know she'll LOVE this mixer! And in OU red - what else could we ask for!?!?!

Very Disappointed!

Purchased the 5qt Artisan mixer. After just plugging it in and listening to the motor at all speeds you could clearly tell that something didn't sound normal. It had a loud grinding noise off and on at every speed. Called KitchenAid customer service, whom listened to all speeds over the telephone and said it didn't sound normal and she could hear the grinding. Immediately returned item. Please beware, this is my second purchase of a KitchenAid stand mixer this year (previous one purchased from another retailer), BOTH mixers were defective and made loud grinding noises. A friend has one that was purchased 13 years ago and is still going strong, she loves it; however, from my recent experience KitchenAid is not making these with the same quality as they use to. They are more concerned with coming out with a new color and attachments rather than focusing on quality and craftsmanship of the product. The motor seems to be a continuing problem with these mixers.

This mixer has the lowest wattage available in a stand mixer. The 325 watts in this mixer can be found in some hand mixers. While I love my mixer, this one does not come in a lower power wattage. Because it is a stand mixer, don't assume it has more power.

I got one of these (actually I think mine is the smaller motor) for my Wedding 30yrs ago! It still works beautifully! I wouldn't be without one of these! I'm thinking of getting one for my son and his girlfriend. I keep hoping mine will give out just so I can justify getting another one in a fun color!!! Mine is Almond, that was a big appliance color in the early 80's blah! I love the Aqua- so retro looking! Or maybe Pink or Metallic black! Maybe it's a good thing mine still works cuz I don't think I could decide on one color;) I love my KithenAid!!!!!
P.S. Mine has the bread hook which is sooooo awesome for kneading bread or pizza dough! I have made tons of pizza dough with my KitchenAid!!

I think that Lizzy is comparing apples with oranges! Yes, I have seen Kitchen Aide mixers cheaper but they are the 4 1/2 quart and have a smaller motor. This mixer is 5 quart and has a larger motor.

I wanted this mixer for a year. Shopped everywhere and BBB had the BEST deal! I absolutely am in love with this mixer! It is so pretty on my kitchen counter. You can't help but want to use it! I am a cupcake fanatic! I have also used the dough hook so far to "stir" meatloaf and my homemade potato salad. Buy this mixer! You won't be sorry!!!

I finally caved in and bought this mixer because my grandmother's hand-me -down Oster Mixer/ Blender/ Food Processor from the 1960's was beginning to have a hard time mixing simple cake batters. If this mixer lasts as long as that one, I really don't mind the price. That very day I came right home with my new mixer and made cookies. The batter was mixed on the lower settings and quickly! It didn't seem to take any effort for the mixer. This seems to be a very sturdy product with high quality parts and craftsmanship. I can't wait to make more delicious foods with it! The only downside is that it makes me want to bake more than I can eat! I guess mine and my husbands co-workers will be benefitting from the excess goods =)

We bought the empire red KitchenAid® 5-Quart Artisan™ Stand Mixer last month and I cannot believe we didn't get it sooner! I love, love, love it! It's a must have for any cook or baker. I received the "Empire Red" mixer for a wedding gift, and I can't imagine not having one!! It not only looks stylish on my counter with a splash of color, but it is AMAZING- especially for baking! I use it all the time! I grew up with my grandmas and mom using theirs often, and my kids will definitely say the same about me!:) Definitely a must have kitchen item; it is pricey, but just look out for coupons! You will not regret this purchase, you will LOVE IT!!

I can't understand why someone would give this product a 1 star. I dont cook and bake all the time but i covetted this mixer. My mom had one for ever and my sister received one for her wedding also. I was so excited to use it. It works and million times better than other mixers, no more lumps and unmixed batter. I wouldn't bake without it now.

Two words: BUY THIS. My family (great-grandmother, grandmother, and mother) has been using this brand and model of mixers for decades! This piece of kitchen equipment is a must have for any cook or non-cook alike! My husband is a chef and I try my best, but without this thing, we'd be lost! The one that I use now was owned by my parents for 15 years and still works like a champ! Probably the most amazing testament to this thing's durabilty is the fact that my father accidentaly RAN IT OVER with his truck several years ago and less a few knicks and a small dent in the bowl, you would never know it! I know I know, how he managed to run over a mixer I won't ever entirely understand, but it happened!

IT frusterated me when I read a previous review posted on this product giving it a rating of 1 due to their own "cooking habits". The review doesn't even mention the actual product itself. True, it is an expensive investment, but if you are a baker, or cooker for that matter, you won't be disappointed. I love to bake and this makes life in the kitchen sooo much simpler! There is nothing I have used this for that it has not been able to do! Love, love, love this product!!! This easily replaces my old stand/hand mixer. There is so much power behind this!!!

My daughter purchased the ice blue mixer for me and I never thought I needed a stand mixer until I started seeing the difference how things are blended. My cookie dough comes out lighter. I purchased the meat grinder and sausage stuffer and made 25lbs of link sausage. It worked amazingly. I cant wait to use it again and again!!

This mixer is wonderful in so many ways...The possiblities are endless with it.So far I only have the shredder/slicer add on for it,which works quickly and wonderful for cheese,carrots,etc...I would like to get the noodle add on soon.The 3 mixer pieces that it comes with are so much better than the cheeper ones of kitchen aids,since they are coated and dont get ruined when you leave them soaking in water after cooking something messy.Its a big expence,but so worth it.You will love it!!
