Like them, but....

I love this set for its simplistic design. We use it everyday. The only thing I don't like about it is that we've already had several pieces chip in the 1 1/2 yrs we've been using it.

Pretty, but not durable.

I really like the design of this dinnerware. However, it chips easily and the gray scrapes and marks left behind by the silverware that cannot be removed. It is disappointing since I love the color, the design, the weight and the size of the pieces I purchased. Back to the drawing board!

I'm very unhappy with these dishes. I loved the look of them, and registered for them for my wedding. We had only used two of the plates two times. The second time I took them out of the dishwasher, I noticed gray lines all over the plates, I guess from the silverware. I am so disappointed. It's a shame because they are exactly the look that I wanted.

We bought 2 boxed sets of these dishes about a month ago, and think so highly of the quality and design that we are still purchasing accompanying pieces to match. They go beautifully with everything and because of their simplicity and style, you can dress up your table in many different ways. I look forward to being creative with my dinner table during the holidays! Love the intricate design and superb quality of each piece. We were pleasantly surprised to find the bottoms are glazed and smooth as well! They also seem very durable. Lovely dishware all around.

We use them everyday, and have both the round and square plates. (love the square ones best because they look great and don't roll around in the dishwasher)
They wash really well, and we run the washer an avg of twice a week. The dishes also hold up to our granite counters too!

The 45 piece dinnerware set we purchased was one of the best purchases we have in our kitchen!!! The Mikasa dishes are beautiful, simple and elegant. We receive many compliments on them. When we were looking around for a new set of dishes we looked everywhere, and at several sets! We found this set and priced them with a big department store and they wanted double the price BB&B asked. I love this store!!! But I also love my Mikasa dishes! They are great quality. I have broken 1 cup due to my own clumsiness. I look forward to many years of use with these dishes! And purchasing more matching pieces.

I have own the Mikasa Italian Countryside Dinnerware set for almost 8yrs and I have to say I fell in love with it from the moment I saw it. My family has used it for everyday use as well as for simple holidays (we use Mikasa's Cameo Platium set for special occasions). In the time we've own this set, we've only chipped ONE dinner plate and that was due to it being dropped by my husband. We've also had to replace 2 cups b/c they broke when they fell, but these things happen and I don't beleive that it's b/c it's an inferior product. I haven't had any issues with sratches or staining on the main set, but I will say that the pasta set (4 large bowls w/a huge serving bowl) doesn't seem to be made in the same quality (staining over time) and I believe it reflects that in it's pricing. My only TINY complaint is that we don't own a dishwasher and sometimes food can get stuck and dried into the rim design and can be a pain to remove if the dish isn't rinsed off first before washing. Despite my one complaint, I love this set and have added to it over time whenever I came across a great deal. It's held up extremely well, considering we've moved 3 times in 6yrs too. The design is lovely, the color neutral, and most importantly the quality is there, so you will be able to enjoy your set for many years to come. Anyone who loves this pattern should most certainly purchase it b/c it will be well worth your money.

My sister, with no kids, loves her Mikasa dishes and has had them for 20 years. I have 4 kids and bought a full set of 8, with serving pieces, one year ago. We use them for everyday, but also use Tupperware plates sometimes for the kids. Two of the salad plates have chipped. I also got 6 mugs, 3 of which the handles have broken off. They're pretty dishes, but I am uncertain about how many more pieces I would purchase.

This pattern is beautiful and rugged for everyday use. I have a family of boys that are a little rough on everything and these dishes have held up perfectly. The pattern is simple and classic, which is good for everyday use and for more formal dinners as well. I waited a long time before purchasing this pattern and it was definitely worth the wait!

After seeing the 1 star review, I felt compelled to write something in defense of this pattern. I first started using this pattern (for everyday use) almost 4 years ago and have never had a chip. Since it is stoneware, heavy scraping of knives will eventually produce some scratches on the most used plates, but any I have are very faint. I love that there is a wide variety of serving pieces available. It is affordable and one of Mikasa's most popular patterns, which makes replacing items easy.

Italian Countryside Dishes

I am extremely disappointed in this product. I had previously owned Mikasa dinnerware which after 30+ years I gave away, as I was tired of the pattern. Now I wish I had it back. The Italian Countryside chips very easily with even gentle handling. It is definitely not worth the price.
